Russian WW II Tushonka

Russia's version of "Mystery Meat."  During the war, there were versions of this ration made from pork, chicken and beef, as well as horse, hence the "mystery." The label is a replica of a 1941 ration label indicating “pork”, but many of the 1941 and 42 dated tins did not reach troops until 1943-44, as they were being held in reserve.

For the benefit of re-enactors, this tin contains fresh-from-the-shelf Brazilian corned beef and can be readily consumed as a field ration.
