Sand Dollar Enamel Metal Brooch handcrafted by Museum Reproductions in Boston, MA from their Nature Collection! This stunning brooch is accented in 22KT Gold Plate and measures measures approx. 1-1/2" in diameter.

Sand Dollars: These flat shelled, circular sea animals are sometimes called "sea biscuits" or "cake urchins." They are closely related to the sea urchins but have much smaller spines. Sand dollars live in the deep warm waters of the world, half buried in sand, feeding on plankton and other small food particles. Their main enemy is the giant Pacific starfish. Sand dollar "skeletons" are washed up on beaches and are valued by beachcombers for their attractive symmetrical petal-like design.
