THIS IS A SCARCE STERLING SILVER AND LEAD CRYSTAL FIGURAL OPEN SALT CELLAR.  THIS PIECE IS MARKED "STERL SILV" AND "W. GERMANY".  THIS SALT FEATURES A STERLING SILVER STRIKING ROOSTER OR COCK WITH ROSE DECORATED WINGS THAT OPEN AND CLOSE.  THE LEAD CRYSTAL BOWL HAS BEVELED SIDES AND SITS ON A FLARED OVAL BEVELED BASE.  DETAIL IS EXCELLENT.  THIS SCARCE FIND IS 2 3/4" TALL AND IS ABOUT 4" LONG.  CONDITION IS GOOD WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS TO THE CRYSTAL AND ONLY SOME LIGHT WEAR.  FEATURED IN THE OPEN SALT COMPENDIUM ON PAGE 106.
