Just in time for Thanksgiving, I have a wonderful turkey jug. Jack calls these spitters. That's because you fill the jug at the tail, and pour the liquid from the mouth, or beak. The jug is approximately 9 3/4" tall and 9 1/2" wide. The applied handle at the top fits comfortably in the hand and the jug is well balanced for pouring. The colors are really pretty, I can't capture them with my camera. The jug is a glossy brown. The tail spout is ruffled and has black feathers tipped in white. The head looks just like a turkey head. It has a small red comb on top of it's head, a long snood ( the red thing that hangs over the beak), and a red wattle above the long beard on the chest. Beady hooded black eyes and a golden brown beak complete the head. The wings are etched with a black front and white individual feathers incised at the end. It must have taken a long time to do those. There is a light bluish green over-glaze that is so attractive. That is why I love this potter, he pays so much attention to detail. I really had to make myself list this piece, I loved it so much!!
