This is an usused Series 1 City Mug From Seattle. Starbucks calls this the Skyline Series This mug has been discontinued.
The mug features the skyline of Seattle (the view you would see on the TV show Frasier) with a float plane over Lake Union with the word "Seattle" written around the mug. Inside the rim is the city slogan; The Emerald City.
Seattle is one of the most popular Starbucks collectible mugs because this is where Starbucks started and always brings a high price. The Skyline series is also the most highly collectible series of Starbucks mugs and prices have been rising rapidly since they were discontinued.
If you take this mug at the Buy-It-Now price, or purchase it from my eBay Store, I will ship it anywhere in the U.S. for free.
I also have a Pike Place mug and other old Series One mugs up for auction. Please see my other auctions. The Series One mugs are skyrocketing in value since they were discontinued.
In 1994 Starbucks started the collectible city mug series. They produced mugs from dozens of major cities --first in the US and later all over the world. The city mugs became instant collectibles. Travelers were bringing them home from all over the country and the world.
The original plan was that you could only buy a city mug in that city. BUT - last year Starbucks found themselves with a large quantity of overstocked mugs and they started selling them in other cities. Collectors went nuts! Starbucks received hundreds of complaint letters from collectors who had paid big bucks for mugs from distant cities. (Some of the rarest ones such as Paris, Jerusalem, Alaska, Key West, Singapore and Malta can sell for as much as 75 each. Other hard to get city mugs vary in price on eBay from $20 to $35.)
After all the mail and even negative newspaper articles, Starbucks promised never to sell the mugs out of their home city again --thus insuring the collectability and price stability of one of the hottest advertising collectibles in the world. (For example, last year I sold a common San Francisco mug to a collector in Portugal. He paid $49 plus $18 shipping)
I collect Starbucks mugs and often sell Starbucks mugs and other collectibles on eBay. Please see my other auctions. If you win more than one item, I can combine them to save you shipping cost.
Shipping, handling and insurance for this mug is $5.90 via USPS Priority Mail to anywhere in the US. Yes - I could ship it cheaper, but this way you get positive delivery confirmation and your mug a lot faster.
