SHADOW, by Marcia Brown - 1st Ed CALDECOTT Medal!










Description:

For many years, the only three-time winner of the Caldecott Medal (now joined by David Wiesner), Marcia Brown uses the technique of cut paper collage to create the haunting and evocative images in Shadow.  Published in 1982 by Charles Scribner's Sons, Shadow would earn Ms. Brown her third Caldecott a year later.

This is the true 1st Edition with a full numberline on the copyright page and no medal to be found on the dust jacket.  The $12.95 price is still intact on the inside flap of the jacket.

Condition overall is very good.  The text is clean and bright with no writing, tears or creases.  The book is bound with string and there are a few places where the pages pull slightly apart due to looseness in the binding.  And the page immediately preceding the title page has a small spot toward the bottom where color has been lost.

The dust jacket has minor shelfwear overall, and a 1" closed tear and crease at the bottom of the rear flap.  The dust jacket is now protected with clear mylar.

A difficult book to find in true First Edition.
