This opulent Sideboard / Buffet was made in England, circa 1890.We purchased it in LONDON, ENGLAND.
The Sideboard is made of Mahogany. It has a rich, Deep Mahogany Patina. It is in very good condition.
The Sideboard has a Triple Mirrored Gallery Back. The Cornice has an unusual form. It scallops lushly into a beautiful Cathedral Arch at the center. The Molding is quite pronounced. There is a fine Floral and Foliage Carving in the middle. Egyptian Key Carving embellishes each corner.
Acorn Finials flank the Cornice. Just below is a lovely row of carved Spindles.
The Frame of the Mirror has Reeded Carving. The Mirrors are deeply Beveled.
At each side of the Central Mirror are lovely raised Shelves. These are crowned by Scalloping Pediments with a Fan Carving at the center.
A row of Turned Spindles flows just below. At each side are Acorn Finials.
The Shelves are supported by Tall Baluster Turned Supports over the Rectangular Side Mirrors. The design is quite unusual and very beautiful. It is perfect for displaying your favorite pieces of fine china.
The Top of the Sideboard has an opulently carved Edge.
The Base consists of Two Long Drawers above Two Long Doors.
The Drawers are lovely. They have Raised Centers. The Drawers open to reveal roomy interiors for strong your fine silver settings. The Drawers are flanked by Horizontal Reeding.
The Doors are made in an unusual Sunken Center Panel Design with gorgeous Vertical Panels. The Doors open to real a roomy interior with a Shelf across the center. Your fine china can be stored here beautifully.
This Sideboard retains all of its original hardware. This includes the Hinges, gorgeous Pierced Back Plates with their Egyptian Key Design. Bale Pulls, Lock, and Skeleton Key.
The Sideboard is supported upon fine Bracket Feet.
This is a lovely English Mahogany Victorian Sideboard.
The Gallery is quite unusual and has a splendid Display Area.
