"ANIMAL KITABU"
The author of 'Congo Kitabu' explores the hidden world of Africa's big game
***SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR***
I can honestly say, this book is one of the better African Big Game Hunting books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The author lost one hand in an accident, and thus handicapped, he encounters some pretty gruelling fights, such as the ones described below. Exceptional stories.

***BIG GAME HUNTING AT ITS FINEST!!!***
COVERS MANY OF AFRICA'S GREATEST BIG GAME HUNTER'S EXPLOITS INCLUDING J.A. HUNTER; TEDDY ROOSEVELT; AND CARL AKELEY, TO NAME JUST A FEW
The author describes his exploration party being attacked by a leopard, with one porter being badly mauled. The author is unarmed, and does the only thing he can do...he jumps on the leopard...see quotes below.
The author states that he is a blood-brother to the Masai and describes hunting and killing a large maned lion with nothing but a shield, killing knife and spear...see quotes below.
QUOTATIONS:
LEOPARD IS KILLED IN HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT (Page 15)
"Meanwhile, the leopard had sprung on the second porter from the rear, hurling him forward onto his face and belly. By the time I raced up the trail and reached them, the great cat had torn the shrieking man’s shoulders, calves, and thighs, but hadn’t as yet gone for the neck. Weaponless and one-handed as I was, I couldn’t force myself to stand by and do nothing while a man died. So, foolishly or not, I did the only thing that seemed feasible: I attacked the leopard, leopard-style, from the rear. As I jumped onto his back, he tried to turn and we rolled sideways, freeing the porter who staggered bloodily into the bush..."
LION IS KILLED WITH A SPEAR IN THE MASAI WAY (Page 60)
"Like a cat springing on a mouse, the lion sprang toward me. I looked for the spot, found it, and threw the spear with all of my strength. Then, as Simba and spear met in midair, I leaped wildly aside. He completed his arc, the heavy butt of the spear struck the ground, and the impact drove the blade even deeper, ripping it across his already transfixed heart...The Masai burst into a wild orgy of joy...."
