YOU ARE BIDDING ON A NICE EDITION OF SIMBA OF THE WHITE MANE by JOCELYN ARUNDEL, ILLUSTRATED by WESLEY DENNIS, PUBLISHED by WHITTLESEY, McGRAW-HILL BOOK COMPANY 1958, MARKED FIRST EDITION.

THIS IS A WEEKLY READERS BOOK CLUB EDITION

Jocelyn Arundel Alexander was born June 16, 1930 in Washington DC to Russell and Marjorie Arundel. She completed her BA at Smith College in 1952 and further studied at Sorbonne, University of Paris. She took a position with the International Union for the protection of Nature in the US after working in the Brussels branch of the IUCN. It was this work environment coupled with an "unforgettable" African photographic/study safari that directed Arundel to serious writing. Arundel writes, "I had come to realize that our children, and children all over the world, growing up amid swelling populations and vanishing natural frontiers, will have both a desperate need to find renewed contacts with nature and yet a harder time fulfilling that need. The toughest conservation problems will be their responsibilities." She has written over ten books on conservation-related issues for children.

THE COVER IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH VERY MINOR BLUNTING. THE SPINE IS TIGHT AND SQUARE WITH MINOR BLUNTING AT THE CORNERS. THERE IS A NAME WRITTEN IN INK ON THE INSIDE COVER SHEET, OTHER THAN THAT THE PAGES ARE CLEAN AND WHITE WITH NO DOG-EARS.

I AM NOT A BOOK CONDITION EXPERT, BUT I FEEL THAT THIS BOOK WOULD RATE AS VG ON THE BARNES & NOBEL RATING SYSTEM.

THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR COLLECTION OR AS A GIFT.
