This is a NEAR MINT CONDITION Singer 221K Featherweight on which the GOLD DECALS are near perfect !!
It was manufactured April 24, 1950 in the Kilbowie Singer Plant (Clydebank, Scotland). Serial number EF703130

This machine was not used that much in all those years. The gold decals being almost intact as well as all the mechanical parts indicates this machine sewed only a few hours since new.
A Scrolled Face Plate and a Chromed Stitch Lever Plate made this machine a top of the line seller in Singer Stores during those years !
With the rarity of Singer Featherweight mint condition sewing machines, it is a privilege to own one of this grade, rare and never altered or repainted. The rarity of such machines makes their value increasing year after year. It is not unusual to find them more and more in private sales selling for over $1500 !
This 221K Beautiful Featherweight is a real piece of art. It is the most wanted sewing machine ever built by the Singer Sewing Machine Company, due to its lightweight construction, compactness and high versatility.
It was completely serviced, including lubrication, parts and electrical contacts cleaned, polished and tested for maximum performance and longevity of service.
This is a great opportunity for any seamstress to own this machine for sewing or quilting, making alterations or clothes, manual embroidery, decorative stitching, edging, hemming, etc. needless to say it is the perfect machine for sewing and quilting circles. This unique machine has a precision full rotary hook using standard (flat side) 15x1 sewing needles. All the parts are widely available on the market. I installed 4 brand new Singer bumper feet underneath; this machine can lay on any surface.
This beautiful Featherweight makes a PERFECT lock stitch, tight and nice.
Lycra is the most difficult material to sew. Most Featherweights are not able to sew stretched fabrics without skipping stitches, even using a ball point needle. This is because the rotary hook point wear with the years (needle breakage) and even if the hook-needle timing is adjusted to the perfection, many of these machines will continue to skip stitches. This amazing Featherweight can sew any kind of stretched fabrics without skipping a single stitch !
The hook point on this Featherweight is in a NEW condition. Those who sews swimsuits and underwears know what I mean with high stretched fabrics.
Before buying a Featherweight, ask your seller to test it in Lycra or any other stretched fabric to be sure it will not skip any stitch !
It is driven by its original motor (120 Volts, same electrical system for Canada and U.S.A.) which is in a new condition. Because the old motor belt was dry, I installed a brand new one, original Singer Part 194144. All Featherweights imported from Scotland and sold in Canada and U.S.A. were received in Singer St-Johns plant for the installation of a 110 Volts Motor, Light and Foot Control. All these electrical parts were manufactured in the Singer St-John's Factory.
I installed also a brand new electrical cord as the original wiring was dry. The new Singer molded cords are much safer than the original ones because they are totally insulated. The original foot control was completely cleaned and is working just like it was when new !
The sewing lamp switch as well as the sewing lamp itself are in perfect working condition and their electrical contacts were cleaned and polished.
All the Internal Wiring is in outstanding Factory Original Condition !
