I believe this book was used in a course taught at Middle Tennessee State University by Ben Austin; entitled "The Social Context of Southern Music". The Introduction states in part, "The major focus of this book is upon white country music; however , attention will be given to the other musical forms in the southern heritage. The course is, for the most part, a sociological examination of country music, the blues, gospel and southern rock and is based upon the assumption that music, as well as other expressions of popular culture such as art, dance, literature, drama, etc. are social products of human interaction."
CONDITION: Very good with a few ink marks and light underlines on the first few pages only. Else clean and crisp. Note: If you notice any dark circles in the photos, they are only caused from a flaw on my camera lens, not on the paper itself.

BOOK GRADING GUIDELINES:
Condition of a book is usually in the form of VG/VG or VG/-, for example. The first part describes the condition of the book, the second indicates the condition of the dust jacket if there is one.
Like New (LN): Used only when the book is in the same immaculate condition in which it was published. There will be no defects, no missing pages, no library stamps, and so on. The dust jacket (if it was issued with one) will be prefect, without any tears.
Fine (F or FN)
Approaches the condition of Like New, but without being crisp. For the use of the term "Fine," there will also be no defects, and if the jacket has a small tear or other defect, or looks worn, it will be noted.
Very Good (VG)
Describes a book that does show some small signs of wear -- but no tears -- on either binding or paper. Any defects will be noted.
Good (G)
Describes the averge used and worn book that has all pages present. Any defects will be noted.
