I have for sale a vintage sofa (1) and matching chair (1)  made by Gaines Manufacturing company in McKenzie, TN. This sofa (and presumably the chair) were then sold to Sterchi Bros. Furniture Stores, here in Knoxville on June, 28 1963 (All of this info is from the tag underneath the sofa, which is pictured). From there the history is unknown, except that I purchased them a year or so ago and have decided to buy a sectional. The sofa and chair are in fantastic shape, and appear to have the original upholstery. There is no way that they were used regularly for most of their life. The foam-rubber cushions retain their shape and the springs in both pieces are in great shape. Sometimes there is a pop sound that comes from the springs when you sit in the chair. I don't know what the sound is, but the chair still supports your weight, and returns to its shape when you get-up. There is slight wear on some of the upholstery, but no rips, and nothing like you would expect given the age of the furniture. I have included a picture of the worst section of frayed upholstery. I will work with local pick-up or shipping, but in either case you are responsible for it getting the items out of my living room and to the vehicle transporting them. Meaning that I will not be responsible for it the second the items leave my living room floor. Most professinal moving companies can accomplish shipping if you wish. If you come to pick them up, I will be happy to lend a hand in hauling them. By accepting my help, you acknowledge that I am not responsible for any damage that occurs to the furniture when transporting it. Sounds harsh, but if I didn't say all of this someone would take advantage of the situation. Size of items: the dimensions of the sofa are 18" from the floor to the seating surface and 32" overall height. Then it is 94" wide from the ends of the armrests and 90" wide underneath the armrests. The sofa is also 30" deep. The chair has almost the same dimensions excepting that the width is 44" under the armrests and 48" from the ends of the armrests.
