Society of Medalists medal number 124 from 1992 Bronze, 101mm in new condition with original box, wooden stand and descriptive pamphlet, of unknown mintage to me but in general the later issues have even lower mintages as the medals got larger more elaborate and consequently more expensive. By artist Joseph Sheppard Miller sculptor. The obverse shows beginning of the flight of Icarus and his father with wax wings while the reverse shows Icarus plummeting toward earth after flying to close the sun against his fathers warning.
