NDEBELE FERTILITY DOLL
SOUTH AFRICA
Colorful and beautifully made this South African doll is hand crafted.  These dolls are made by the Ndebele tribe and are used to instruct young girls at the time of their initiation into womanhood.  Doll's beaded apron signifies marital status.  Doll has a wood structure, wire wrapped legs, leather skirt, metal neck rings and handsome beadwork.  Doll's bright yellow, blue and maroon blanket is removable and reveals more beadwork on the dolls torso. 

Doll is 16" tall.  

Doll is in very good clean condition.  No odd or smokey odors.  Came from the Kansas City estate of an phone company executive that lived in South Africa for a time.

Paper label on doll's left leg: "MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA, HANDCRAFTED NDEBELE DOLL".
