When we set about to develop a serious Trout fly rod series we wanted to utilise the most advanced rod building production available.
After 4 years of trials and testing we entered into a joint venture with one of the worlds leading fly rod manufacturers responsible for producing the best in fly rods for some of the worlds biggest fly rod brands , now including South Pacific Fly Rods Australia.
 
Our design team produced the TR Trout series with a med-fast action that has plenty of reserve for longer casts while offering a sensitive tip for delicate presentation, resulting in a serious quality trout rod in a new generation 46T graphite composite. The TR's good looks is further enhanced with the best in componentry from PAC BAY® International USA. The TR range will have even the most discerning angler content with features such as non-glare matt blanks, smoke finish snake guides and large tip, TiCH #16 stripping guides, hook keeper, anodised aluminium up-lock impregnated wooden reel seats and A-grade cork handles. Each rod comes presented in a zip-top 600D covered rod tube with carry handle. When you come to fish your TR you'll experience a very smooth sensitive action and when that first fish goes into the net look closely .. he may even be smiling.

Hi Gaz, just got back from our Nth QLD trip and just wanted to let you know the SPX890-4 went fantastic, we caught a heap of fish on it. Rob landed the best Queenie of the week on it and I couldn't get it out of his hands after that, reckons he should have saved himself the $'s he spent on his new (USA Brand) rod ! He was casting 80-90ft with it from the beach and I ended up using it in the boat most of the time and it was great for accurate short casts too. The finish on them is really nice and we got hooked on the comfort of the handle shape. A couple of yanks at the camp (that owned just about every USA rod I've ever seen !!) had a cast with it & were suprised that it was a Aussie brand and were impressed with the fast action & with the hardware and overall finish. Rob's going to get an 8wt for himself and I'm going to get the 10wt now and save me the $'s on the (****) I was considering. You've done well with them , your gonna sell stacks. Tony.

The SP gear is nothing short of brilliant.
Lets start with the South Pacific TR690-4 rod . It's added and extra 15 foot to my cast and made casting into the wind a lot easier than my old set up. Very happily christened the rod on a lovely rainbow trout early morning and then with a 50cm brown late one evening. The brown took off and lept around 4 foot in the air and the rod handled the fight with ease. It seems to have that rare balance of sensitivity in the tip and strength in the butt.
One feature I found great on the Suprior 567 reel is that retrieval is silent, only "line out" has the ratchet. I am used to a quick release system on the reel but after a very cold day, I found that unscrewing the spool release was a damn site easier that trying to get my numb fingers under a catch. To say I am very happy is a huge understatement!
Your A1fly line is fantastic and, although uncertain when ordering, I will be back for more! There was very little memory and performed above expectations.
