Game Designer's Note:  I wrote this game (and Starship Battles 128) on the C128 / 128D, utilizing it's 128k memory, built-in Microsoft BASIC 7.0 language with 9k of SPRDEF (sprite definition mode), Hi-Res 320 x 200 Graphics, 16 Colors and the 1571's 360k higher capacity disk drive & quick loads.  The additional memory, disk space, graphic and sprite flexibility makes the C128 / 128D a more superior gaming machine than the C64.

Space Pirates 128: This is a turn-based, space privateer adventure game for the C128 / 128D Commodore computers.  You are a Space Pirate, traveling to different star systems, buying and selling cargo goods for profit while avoiding and/or fighting those who would remove you from your well earned bounty!

Discription of Game Play: You are the captain of the Cobra Starship, an Armed Frigate Class Starship.  You issue Commands to your ship's systems that includes Navigate, Ship Status, Repair, Ambush, etc.  You travel the galaxy, from star system to star system, buying and selling cargo for profit.  Visit the Orion Astroid Belt and search for profitable cargo pods that are scattered throughout and the elusive Orion Pleasure Ship, while avoiding the renegade pirates.  As you progress through the game, you'll encounter Ion Storms, visit planetary systems, prey on the rich Federation Freighters, avoid or fight Renegade Pirates, Bounty Hunters and the Star Police.    

Graphic Display: After the orders are given, your movements and adventures are displayed in Full 16 Color (320 x 200) Graphics, dynamic Sound Effects, Star Filled Backgrounds with Asteroids, Planetary Systems and Hostile Ships. 

The game comes on a 5.25" disk (for the 1541 or 1571 disk drives) and an 8.5" x 11" Illustrated Instruction Manual.  This is one of the few C128 / 128D dedicated games ever produced.  I used the extra 128k Memory, Sprites (SPRDEF) in 320 x 200 Hi-Res - 16 Color Graphics that is available for the C128 / 128D, the BEST 8-bit computer ever made!  Great Computer, Great Game, Great Price.
