This is a 1986 TV adaptation of the Pulitzer and Tony-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George. Patinkin and Peters starred in both the stage and screen version of this play as painter Georges Seurat and his mistress Dot, respectively, and as Seurat's great-grandson and his grandmother.
The stage and TV cast also included New York stage veteran Brent Spiner, who would shoot to fame as Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation one year later. PATINKIN, born Mandel Bruce Patinkin in Chicago, Illinois in1952, is a
Tony and Emmy-winning American actor of stage and screen. Intense and dynamic Patinkin is probably best known for his role as
Inigo Montoya in The Princress Bride (1987) and his tagline, which has entered the popular lexicon: "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." But his acting career began over a decade before
The Princess Bride, with appearances in TV commercials and on radio. He debuted on Broadway in
Trelawny of the "Wells" in 1975. This was the first of 16 Broaday appearances, mostly in musicals and solo concerts, including two appearances in
Sunday in the Park with George (1984-1985, 604 performances and 1994),
The Secret Garden (1991-1993, 709 performances) and a
Tony-winning performance as Che in Evita (1979-1983, 1,567 performances). Patinkin's movie debut was in 1978's
The Big Fix, and he went on to appear in
Ragtime (1981),
Yentl (1983),
Alien Nation (1988) and
Dick Tracy (1990). His TV appearances include an
Emmy-winning turn as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger on Chicago Hope (1994-2000) as well as performances in
Dead Like Me (2003-2004) and
Criminal Minds (2005-2007).
PETERS, born Bernadette Lazarro in Ozone Park in 1948, made her debut on the Broadway stage in 1959 (at age 11) in
The Most Happy Fella. Over her Broadway career, she also won the
Tony Award for
Song and Dance (1986) and was
nominated for Tonys for
The Goodbye Girl (1993) and
Gypsy (2003). In addition to her stage career, Peters also starred in several feature films, including the 1969 Joel Grey musical
George M.
She was nominated for a Golden Globe for Silent Movie (1976) and won one for Pennies From Heaven (1981). Peters also starred in a number of made-for-TV movies and musicals, including The Witch in Stephen Sondheim's
Into the Woods (1990) and the Stepmother in
Cinderella (1997), and appeared on a number of TV series.
All's Fair, a CBS sitcom (1976-1977) starred Richard Crenna as a conservative journalist, and his love interest, liberal photographer Peters. Lightly scuffed and creased. Light impressions from disc. Light scratches on cover (not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
