Here we have a excellent example of mid nineteenth century English Victorian sterling silver. A gorgeous silver tea pot by the highly esteemed Angell family, a mid 19th century maker of finer gold and silver. Retailed by Thomas's of Bond Street, London, England.

To me, this piece epitomizes what's best of the time frame and style. Beyond the function of the piece we have art on silver, as was typical of better silver in England when this piece was crafted. Heavily repousse with florals. Multi-motif. Neo-classical dolphin feet. Acanthus decorated lid and handle.

Atop the lid sits a hatted man that at first glance looks Asian but I think he's not. An Englishman dressed in peasant clothing I think... or perhaps the China man as it is often referred to.

Underneath is marked as follows. Additionally, the parts are marked:

It measures 8" across the spout and handle and about 6" tall. It weighs 20 ounces. Condition wise, we're comfortable with an excellent classification as there are no dents, dings or obvious issues. There is very light wear as is typical of 170 year old silver. Patination if you will. The handle heat stops are original or if replaced, too long, long ago to mention. The hinge is in perfect shape. All in all I really like the condition and I feel you will also. It is more than suitable for use at any time it just needs polishing for your peace of mind!
