INCREDIBLE SURREAL MASTERPIECE, ORIGINAL DRAWING SIGNED "DALI"!!!

MEASURES 11 BY 9 INCHES, SIGNED "DALI" LOWER RIGHT. GOUACHE AND WATERCOLOR ON PAPER. THE ARTIST CLEARLY HAS "RE-WORKED" A MEDIEVAL IMAGE OF A KING, BY DRAWING OVER WHAT APPEARS TO BE AN OLDER PRINT, WHICH WAS ALSO THEN PARTLY COLORED IN WATERCOLOR. VERY REMINISCENT OF THE MANNER IN WHICH DALI PRODUCED HIS FAMOUS TAROT CARD SERIES; AND IN FACT, I HAVE QUITE A NUMBER OF SIMILAR WORKS SIGNED DALI, SOME OF WHICH ARE CLEARLY STUDIES EITHER FOR THE TAROT SERIES OR AFTER THEM. IT IS FOR THIS REASON I AM TENTATIVELY DATING THIS AND SIMILAR PIECES TO A LATE PERIOD FOR THE ARTIST, CIRCA 1970'S, BUT FRANKLY IT'S A GUESS. THE ART IS NOT DATED. I AM ALSO OBLIGATED TO LIST THIS WORK 'IN THE MANNER OF' OR 'ATTRIBUTED TO' DALI, AS I DO NOT KNOW THE PROVENANCE OF THIS PIECE PRIOR TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. IT DID COME FROM AN IMPORTANT PASADENA, CALIFORNIA ART COLLECTION--AND I HAVE SOLD OTHER WORKS FROM THIS COLLECTION FOR RATHER TIDY SUMS!
