Here's what the Swiss Army uses when they need to keep their engineers' gear safe, secure and dry.

It is made of extremely rugged rubberized vinyl material with thick leather on the bottom. The tie down and carry straps are also thick sturdy leather with buckles. The back straps and frame are designed with a lower back band to hold the bulk of the pack out a bit so all that hot vinyl doesn't sit against your back as you hike.

They are used, but remain in excellent usable condition and have many years left in them. Typical Swiss over-engineering. The main compartment measures 15 1/2 x 5 x 18"h. and overall dimensions are 20"h x 16"w x 12 1/2"d. It has a drawstring closure inner baffle that goes under the main rain flap for added protection from the elements. Two of these would make excellent custom saddlebags for your Harley or some cool panniers for a bicycle. -- Just an idea.

FYI: We purchased quite a few of these and will not be photographing them individually. The one you receive may vary somewhat (it may have OD green leather instead of brown as pictured). The style of the straps may also vary slightly. Such is the nature of military surplus goods. If you have a preference as to if you'd like brown leather or OD green leather, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate you. I can't guarantee anything though.
