My friends and family told me "you've gotta be nuts to sell sardines on eBay".
So in case you're thinking to yourself "somethings fishy here" let me explain: I'm a "sardine-olic". I've had the habit since I started eating these tasty lil' fellers when I was thirty - that was 29 years ago. In those 29 years I'm sure I've paid for more than a few Norwegian sardine boats! But that's only part of the story. I started eating sardines after reading a book entitled: Dr. Frank's No Aging Diet. in which the tiny fish were touted as an anti aging food, (today they're called "super food"). Even though I was only a young whippersnapper of 30 at the time, I found it an interesting concept and started eating sardines, 3 to 4 tins a week. The book pointed out some little known research about sardines, to wit:
- Sardines are rich in nucleic acids as is indicated by their high purine content.
- Sardines have a high level of xanthine, a derivative of RNA, (Ribo Nucleic Acid) When xanthine was given to test subjects they showed little rise in uric acid levels, (attention gout sufferers), whereas the opposite would normally be expected. Instead of creating uric acid like other RNA constituents, Dr Frank theorized that it instead creates guanosine diphosphate, a critical substance in reversing or slowing down the aging process.
- Tinned sardines are higher in RNA than fresh sardines whereas the opposite is true of salmon, anchovies, mackerel and clams.
- Dr Frank's research found that more than any other food, sardines lowered cholesterol and provided patients with greater energy.
So, long story short, I'm starting my sixth fifth decade on earth, and be it good genes or the sardines, I appear to at least 10 years younger than my chronological age. While my siblings, both older and younger have turned grey haired, I still have a full head of natural dark brown hair, with few grey hairs appearing in my beard, but no where else. Your results may vary, but personally, I'm sold on the health and longevity benefits of the tiny sardine.
Since I buy and inventory wholesale quantities of sardines for my own use I have decided to offer these online since these particular sardines are hard to find in many areas of the country. ___________________________________________________________________________________________
