Offered is an extremely rare mugbased, soda or mineral water bottle from Schuylkill Haven Pennsylvania.  Bottle dates to approximately the 1850s and measures approximately 7 3/8" H x 2 1/2" D.  Bottle is embossed:

A. SCHROTH / SCH.LL HAVEN // SUPERIOR / MINERAL WATER / UNION GLASS WORKS

Early single taper top.  Super crude and pushed in iron pontil base, with plenty of iron remaining.  Bold and crisp embossing.  Mugbase panels circling bottle at base.  Color is a light to medium cobalt blue.  Good glass character with some whittle and closed seedy bubbles in the glass.  About MINT condition- no chips, dings, or bruises.  Maybe a few scattered VERY light wear marks.  Bottle has been lightly cleaned.  A beauty!

These rarely turn up, but when they do, most have a blob top- the single taper top examples are very, very hard to find and never in this pristine, virtually un-upgradeable condition.  Never have to upgrade this one.  No, it's not quite as rare as the Miller & Butler from Mauch Chunk (but try finding one of those for under $3,000), but this is a primo, top shelf example of a pontiled mugbase mineral water from a small coal region town in between Hamburg and Pottsville.  Throw in the glass works embossing, and this is one VERY desirable bottle!
