Featuring powerfully struck devices of vivid-detail on both sides of it, this 1893 Morgan Dollar has been graded Choice MS64 by NGC due to its eye-catching appearance and outstanding condition. The smooth, satiny fields are virtually unblemished and possess a highly mirrored appearance while the lustrous surfaces shine with brilliant mint luster of soft mauve undertones that further embellish this attractive Silver Morgan -- a truly remarkable example of the 1893 mintage.
1893 was a year of very low mintage for the Philadelphia Mint. That year it produced a mere 378,792 Morgan Dollars (only 4 years earlier in 1889 they crunched close to 22 million Morgans). With that low production figure to start with, and after the passage of over 113 years, most of those coins have been lost to circulation or melted down for reuse, making a Morgan Dollar from the Philadelphia mintage of 1893 a true rarity on any condition, but much more so in high MS grades like this fantastic near-gem.
The recently updated Coin World Trends shows a value of $3,000 for the 1893-P Morgan Dollar in grade MS64.
Consider that a 1893 Morgan Dollar with a grading of MS65 will come with a $7,500.00 price tag attached.
