This antique set of chairs has been previously owned of course, and was in daily use by it's previous owner. It shows the patina of age and normal wear here and there as you would expect of a used 100-year-old item. Each could use a good cleaning and detailing by it's next owner at the minimum, and one chair needs repair to be sturdy enough for use.
I checked all over and found no major issues or damage that's not disclosed here so you won't have any unexpected surprises.
As you can see, there are 4 side chairs and one arm chair for a total of 5 chairs in this set. The side chairs measure a generous 21" wide at the seat and about 39" high at the back. The arm chair measures about 24" wide at the seat and about 41" high at the back.
I would date these from around the turn of the century... either just before or just after. The are solid mahogany, not veneered or some other thing. They have been reupholstered probably around the 1950's or so. If you examine my photo of the underside, I peeled back the muslin underneath the chair seat to show you the webbed construction and solid leg mounting typical of antique chairs of this age. These are guaranteed not to be some crazy import from Indonesia or China, but genuine American antiques.
Note that these have been stored in a storage facility in Flagstaff, Arizona in a climate controlled environment for at least the last 20 years. The wood is in good shape, but they were dusty as heck when we received them. You'll want to do a much more thorough job of cleaning these. In fact, most people would want to reupholster these chairs properly. I wouldn't refinish them... I think they might look very nice with a good cleaning of the wood. After all, if you want them to look brand new, there's always the Indonesian or Chinese chairs...
One chair has a chip on the underside of one leg brace, and one chair is VERY loose where the back joins the seat. The others are sturdy. Expect these to look their age... they are not new. And expect them to look gorgeous... they are.
