4.5" Sander - is an excellent choice for sanding around fender openings, small parts like motorcycle side covers, tanks, automotive bezels, mirrors and garnish molding or objects with small lows or sharp curves. Made out of 8 lb. density foam, it has a .008" thick base plate. Comes with 3 - 1/8" rods and end caps.

6" Sander - Very comfortable to use and will last for years instead of months. These sanders are generally used for scuffing surfaces prior to painting and sanding areas that are unsafe for barehanded sanding, such as areas with exposed spot welds or sharp edges. The 6" Sander is a non-adjustable hand-held sander without the Rods that the Bigger sanders come with.

9" Sander - Designed to incorporate the best features of its two predecessors. By combining the two it's probably the most versatile AFS sander to date. It's also the largest sander intended for one hand operation. This sander is only nine inches long, but will easily outperform board files twice its length. An ideal choice for sanding cowls, motorcycle tanks and fenders. Made out of a 8lb. density foam, has a .010" thick base plate and come with 3 - 1/8" rods and of course end caps.

15" Sander - If you are in the collision repair industry this will probably be your sander of choice, in fact it may be more sander then you need. It'll easily allow you to find the lows and restore the panel to better then factory condition. This is also a wonderful tool to have in your arsenal when you get into tight spots with the 21 and need a little more swinging room. Made out of 8lb. density foam, has a .015" thick base plate.

21" Sander - By far the most popular AFS sanders in use today. A great choice when working on street rods, muscle cars, or anywhere where nothing less then a show finish will do. You wouldn't believe how much easier and quicker it is to straighten a panel with just six more inches of sander. Even more importantly, a lot of thought and care went into the design of it, so it gives the user an unbelievable sense of confidence knowing they're doing the job right the first time. Made out of 8lb. density foam, has a .015" thick base plate.

Each sander comes with a set of vinyl end caps to prevent the rods from sliding around and to prevent unwanted scratches when working in tight areas.

How They Work and Why They are Unique: By adding or removing flexural rods of same or different diameters in different configurations, you change the pressure to flex-ratio. In other words, you control how much the sander flexes. These sanders will pick out lows that your hand or naked eye almost always miss.

In the example above you can see how the number of rods inserted effects the stiffness of the sander. This allows you to go from sanding the fender of a 1940 Chevy to the hood of a 1965 Lincoln in a matter of seconds. Each sander comes with a set of vinyl end caps to prevent the rods from sliding around and to prevent unwanted scratches when working in tight areas.

How They're Made: The base plate on the 4.5", 9", 15", 21" and 27" sanders is made from 1075 tempered spring steel. Ranging in thickness from .008 to .020" depending on length. The base plate on the 36" sander is a little thicker, made from .060" thick aluminum, (around 16 gauge). The flexural rod chases within the sanders are made from polyethylene and the foam handle is made from the finest foam available.

What Type of Sandpaper Does it Use? Use adhesive backed sandpaper, or a type of spray adhesive to apply the sandpaper. Why don't they have clips on them? Clips don't keep the sandpaper attached to the bottom of the sander as well. Spray adhesive won't allow the paper to be drawn into the lows while your sanding.
