My Comments
While I'm doing a meditation and while I'm memorizing a Magic phrase "Namo Tassa" that must thinking of The Buddha Image, I often using the image of this Buddha statue "The episode of Retrospect" or "The Contemplating Buddha", Because I was born on Friday, This buddha image is a regular buddha statue for me.
So If anybody want to have the image of buddha that regular for birthday, please ask me a question, I will answer you wisely.
There is a Buddha image for each day of the week below.
Sunday "Seven Days Looking" (pang thawai net), the image is standing with hands held down in front of the body. The left hand is covered by the right. This attitude represents the period after the Buddha had realized Enlightenment.
Monday "Pacifying the Relatives" (pang ham yati) is a standing image with right hand raised; this was the posture of Buddha when he persuaded disputing family members to peacefully compromise.
Tuesday "Realizing Nirvana" (pang saiyat), the image, reclining on the right side, toes even, indicates his death. Religious texts state that the Buddha entered parinibbana on this day of the week.
Wednesday (pang umbat) A standing Buddha image holding an alms bowl.
Thursday "The Meditating Buddha" (bang samti) in a sitting pose is a reminder of the classic posture for meditation. The full lotus with both soles upward and visible, the hands resting in the lap, right above left with all fingers extended, palms upward.
Friday The "Contemplating Buddha" (pang ram pueng) stands with hands resting across the chest, the right hand covering the left. The pose implies a complete spiritual transformation.
Saturday "Protected by the Naga King", (pang nag prok) the Buddha image sits on a large coiled serpent which rises to protect him from a raging storm.
Wednesday Night (pang pa le lai) sitting in a Western-style with a monkey and elephant in front. It represents a time ten years after Buddha obtained enlightenment. His disciples were arguing and could not settle the argument. Buddha retreated to the forest. In the forest, an elephant cleared a way to a hidden cave for Buddha to seek refuge. Every day, the elephant would bring offerings of food. A monkey, realizing who Buddha was, brought an offering of a honeycomb.
The last one is "Touching Earth", also known as subduing Mara. Buddha sits with folded legs (right over left). The left hand is held in his lap with palm facing upward. The right hand extends over the right thigh, near the knee, with fingers pointing towards the ground, palm inward. During meditation, Siddhartha is subjected to many temptations but none as terrible as those posed by the evil Mara, who bombards him with his demon armies, monsters, beasts, violent storms and his three lascivious daughters. The Buddha remains steadfast. Then to testify to Mara of his meritorious past, he points to the earth with his hand and calls forth Thorani, the beautiful earth Goddess. She rises from the ground and wrings the water from her long black hair, which raises a torrential flood that drowns Mara and his army of demons. This episode is often depicted; it reminds devotees that good can triumph over evil.
