SETH THOMAS CYMBAL 2 – 1933

SIMPLE…BEAUTIFUL!

Even though this clock has no fancy inlaid, molded design or a fancy dial, this Seth Thomas Cymbal 2 has a simple look and a beautiful sound that will never go out of style.  Besides the bronze bushings in the movement, this clock is truly an all original clock.  Along with the original tags, it even has the original chime blocks used to prevent the chimes from rattling when it was transported from the factory.  Integrity, care and pride are put into all my clocks I sell.  I know that one cannot bring time back once it passes but one can always purchase a piece of times past.

For offer is this true all original Seth Thomas Cymbal 2 produced in the year of 1928.  The original label of this model shows on the bottom of the sound board.  I have seen several versions of this model on ebay and the public market and this clock is one that is truly exceptional.  The case design is similar to the later Cymbal 1 model and does not show any extra holes or alterations to it.  The case of this Cymbal 2 is made of solid and ribboned mahogany that has been cleaned with a mild cleaner and hand waxed to bring out the original mahogany patina.  Little to no character marks are in the case and the pictures are light and clear to show you every angle of the clock.  Please enlarge and use the zoom feature to show just how beautiful this clock really is for its age.

The silvered dial shows minor wear and the recessed numbers are dark and clear making it easy to read from a distance.  Just below the middle of the dial is a small hole for the fast and slow adjustment.  The post is not broken off and works perfectly.  The S and T hour and minute hands compliment the dial face.  The convex glass has no chips and tiny scratches in it which are hard to see but worth mentioning.  The sash bares the original gold paint and glass retaining ring.  The hinges on the front and back doors are tight which open and close properly as they should.  The original pendulum bob, the original two-sided key, original tags and chime block, comes with the clock.  Every aspect of this clock and all the clocks I sell are fully functional.

Although when bought I was told the clock works, all the pivots of this eight day quarter-hour Seth Thomas 89L strike movement have been rebushed with bronze bushings except for the front plate of the cam (behind gathering wheel) and both plates of the verge pivots which were all tight.  The 89L movement is equipped with a self adjusting quarter-hour strike.  See below for a detail of what I do sot that the winning buyer receives a clock that will perform with proper service intervals for many generations to come.

What I do to ensure you are buying a quality clock from me.

Ø    Disassemble the entire clock and movement myself completely.

Ø    Install Seth Thomas parts on the movement if needed.

Ø    Rebush all worn pivot holes as needed.  In this case it was desperately needed.

Ø    Clean the entire movement ultrasonically.

Ø    Clean the original dial or have it sent out to have it professionally silvered and restored to Seth Thomas dial specifications.

Ø    Clean bezel, parts and chime rods by hand.

Ø    Clean the outside of the original finish by hand with mild cleaners as well as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand.

Ø    I will never alter the finish or farm out the clock not knowing what is being done to the clock.

Ø    Reassemble the clock, oil and lube in the proper places.

Ø    Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each quarter-hour and hour.

Ø    Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed while the clock is level to ensure accuracy for many generations.

Ø    Inspect and adjust every minor detail of the clock assuring full function and peak performance for many years to come.

Ø    Test the clock for a minimum of two weeks to ensure peak and proper performance for the new owner.

Ø    Smoke free, pet free home.  All clocks are cleaned and odors removed.

Ø    Instructions for set up and contact number provided for on going support and discounted maintenance or repair for your clock.

Ø    A link to a website for more information to better understand how your clock works.

Ø    A video player added to this listing so you can see and hear the clock you are buying.  Just click on the arrow in the middle of the player, adjust the volume on the player and your computer and enjoy.

This Cymbal 2 strikes each quarter-hour on two horizontal rods of different tone.  On the first quarter-hour there are two strokes or bim bam. Four strokes on the half-hours and 6 strokes on the three quarter-hours.  The hour is struck on a single rod for the amount of times of whatever the hour the time is on.  Both hammer tips are in great shape and have plenty of leather on them.

This full size mantel clock-tambour measures 9 ½” H X 20” W X 6” D that will give your home a sense of warmth and charm.  The simple design of this clock will compliment any of your room’s decors with its beauty and sound while appreciating in value over the years.  Buy it for that special someone or even for your own collection to pass on to future generations.

Both mainsprings will be let down and the clock will be carefully packed and shipped out via your choice of UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail in the continental United States only.  Shipping will be charged at a flat rate of only $20.00 UPS Ground and $35.00 USPS Priority Mail.  Insurance and delivery confirmation is included in both of the flat rates and will be insured at the actual selling price.  The clock will be sold as is and the seller has the right to end the auction at any time.  This is a need nothing clock except to be leveled and wound once a week.  Please check out my feedback, email me with any questions, return weekly to see more Seth Thomas clocks for sale.  Check out my other clocks that I may have currently listed on ebay and I thank you for looking.
