This is a new, custom crafted 50-130lb 6 foot 8 inch shark rod .. It was built for the land base sharker that uses a big Penn reel .. it is built to accommodate reels up and including the Penn 14/0 or 16/0 reels. It was built with a heavy duty boat guides that have zirconium insert rings. Zirconium rings are smoother, harder and dissipates heat better then any ring up to the silicon carbide rings. We used 8 of these guides on this rod to insure you have the very best line weight distribution available. These guides are made to withstand the rigors of all super braids or mono lines .... the rod blank is the new 50-130 lb e-glass / graphite blend blank from Rainshadow, it is strong and durable and exceptionally light for such a big poundage rod .. The graphite / eglass blend is exactly what the doctor ordered for land based sharking .. these rods start with the bottom 2/3s of then in graphite .. light and strong and stiff .. the top 1/3 is e glass .. more forgiving and durable .. the action on this rod blank is more parabolic then on all eglass blanks .. so you well have the action you need to handle big fish from shore. This rod has silver heavy duty, marine grade aluminum gimbal .. . I used a 10 inch Shark skin rear butt .. seemed appropriate .. shark skin is a very tough material, it will not get slick when wet and if you feel you need more texture on the grip just take a piece of sand paper to it and rough it up a little .. I put a custom diamond wrap under the shark skin to make it easier to hold .. it will also come out of rod holders easier then rods with foam rear grips .. The reel seat is a 28 mm marine grade aluminum from Forecast .. this is the largest size reel seat manufactured .. it will accommodate very large reels up to and including the Penn 14/0 and 16/0. I put a Aftco tuna block in front of the reel seat to give you a place to put your front support clamp, this will keep it off the front foam .. the fore grip is a triangular 13 inch EVA foam grip that we had manufactured to our specifications .. it is very easy to hold .. the triangular shape will help you keep the rod from twisting and turning .. It is also much easier on your hands in a prolonged fight then the traditional round grips ...we have found the 13 inch triangular fore grip, is the grip of choice for the land based sharkers we've spoken with .. The guides are under wrapped in blue note We are selling so many of these rods we have decided to offer them to you in different colors at the same price .... We will continue to keep a few of the blue and silver rods in stock .. How ever we will be happy to build these rods in about any color you would like .. Green .. red .. aquamarine .. yellow .. purple .. electric or ice blue ... these rods will have the silver reel seats and gimbals to better match the Big Penn reels that are so popular with this type fishing. So the trim will stay silver ... but if you would like the rod wrapped in a different color besides the blue let us know at the time of order .. Because we keep the components to build this very popular rod in stock, the change in color will only add a couple of days to the length of time before we can ship your rod .. Don't let the beauty of this rod fool you, it is a true work horse with guides that are exceptionally strong and smooth, a rod that is strong and durable and has superior lifting power, and it is custom built tough, right here in the USA. If you are the winning bidder on this rod we will place your name or boats name on the rod at no additional charge. OR you may opt for and shark logo instead. |
