Frost Resistant

The density of the clay aslo determines whether the tile is suitable for outdoor use. Tiles that are too porous, absorbing more than 3% moisture, will freeze and crack if installed outdoors in cold climates.

The density of the tile is measured by the amount of water it absorbs. There are four types:

1. Non-vitreous tiles absorb 7% or more of their weight in water and are suited for indoor use only.
2. Semi-vitreous tiles absorb setween 3-7% water and are suited for indoor use only.
3. Vitreous Tiles absorb between 0.5-3% water and are suited for both interior and exterior use because they are frost-resistant.
4. Impervious tiles, the strongest, absorb between 0-0.5% of their weight in water and are suited for both interior and exterior use because they are frost-resistant.

 
Shade and Texture Variation

Variations in size, color, texture, and pattern are to expected in ceramic flooring. In fact, they should be enjoyed. These variations are part of what makes ceramic tile such a unique and beautiful choice for your home.

Each Shaw Porcelian flooring product is labeled for shade and color variation with one of the following ratings:

   Low - Consistent shade and texture
   Moderate - Moderate shade and texture variation
   High - High shade and texture variation
   Random - Very high shade and texture variation

For a neat, contemporary-looking tile floor, choose a tile with a low shade and texture rating.

A tile with a high or random shade and texture rating will achieve a more casual, rustic effect.

 

Shipping usually takes 5-14 days in the continental United States. 

Business Shipping Options:

  • Free Shipping to a business* for orders over 400 s/ft.
  • $55.00 to a business* for orders under 400 s/ft. 
  • You may also pick up your order at a Shaw Distribution Center (see list below).  If the flooring you are ordering is in-stock at the distribution center, you will not have to pay any shipping costs.  If however, the flooring has to be delivered to the distribution center from the main warehouse, there will be a $55 delivery fee for under 400 s/ft. Shipping will be free either way if you are ordering over 400 s/ft.
  •  We can also deliver to a Freight Terminal near you for pickup, if you are not close to a Shaw Distribution Center. Freight charges will apply.

Are you wondering why we can ship to a business for such a low rate and not to your home?  We ship directly from a Shaw Distribution Center or a Shaw Warehouse and Shaw will only allow their trucks to deliver to a business.  They do not care what business (your work place, a friend's place of work), just as long as someone will be available to unload the truck once it arrives.  Shaw will not, under no circumstances, deliver to a home. Shaw does not consider home-based businesses an actual business, since they are usually not zoned business by the city.  

We have shipped to schools, auto repair shops, bowling alleys, daycares, lawyer offices, doctor's offices, hair salons, churches, etc.  Just keep in mind that someone will have to be available to unload the truck.  Most of the time the truck driver will call before delivery the day before or within an hour of delivery.  If you have any questions please use the ebay contact us button above.
