ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Up for auction is a large silverplated pedastal cake stand made by Sheridan. Top of cake stand measures 12 1/2" in diameter, base is 5" in diameter and piece stands 5 1/2" tall. Pattern on top of stand is Pineapple design, I believe, with flowers and fronds; also has a very decorative raised edge of flourishes and swirls. Base is plain. There is a mark on underside of stand reading "Sheridan Silverplated" with a crown, large "S" and a shield in a rectangle. No date on this piece, but I know this is 60+ years old as it was a wedding gift to my mom who was married in the early 40's. No dents or rust; a bit of tarnish even though we did our best to polish this piece. I have no expertise in silver or silver plate so can't give much more info. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to answer. We do our best to describe these pieces accurately; please view photos for details.
