The ancient Native American cultures of the Freemont and Anasazi peoples had disappeared long before the white man settled the North American continent. What became of them is a mystery. They are known to us only by the artifacts and art work they left behind. Both cultures created petroglyphs and pictographs on flat vertical rock surfaces in the areas where they lived, fished, and hunted. Pictographs were painted or drawn onto the rock surface using various mineral "paints", and petroglyphs were pecked or carved into the rock's surface. Today, we can only speculate at why they made them, and what they meant. Subject matter included human forms, animals, shields, tools, rain clouds, lightning, celestial events and what appear to be solar calendars, and abstract geometric figures. The most interesting are supernatural entities that appear to be gods, spirits, or aliens.
Kokopelli is the name given to a fairly common male figure found on hundreds of rock art panels throughout the South West. He is usually depicted with a prominent hump on his back, long braids of hair or feathers on his head, and often playing a flute. Kokopelli is often depicted as a fertility god/symbol, traveling minstrel, hunting magician, rain priest, trader, or trickster. It is obvious to me that Kokopelli really enjoyed life. If alive today, I can see him involved in all kinds of fun sports and outdoor activities; like skydiving. So I decided to create a "petroglyph" of Kokopelli skydiving.
This necklace pendant is hand crafted in sterling silver. I started by looking at lots of pictures of people jumping out of airplains and sketching them on paper. I then drew a Kokopelli in freefall. I then photoetched the "petroglyph" I drew into metal. A mold was made from this original, and cast in sterling silver. After the silver is polished, I use a jewelers antiquing in the petroglyph depression to make it black so it will stand out. The circular pendant measures 7/8" diameter x 1.4mm thick, and weighs about 5 grams. The front surface is textured to resemble a natural rock surface. The chain is a 24" silver color plated curb chain.

Guarantee / Return Policy:
All our items are guaranteed to be exactly as described; if not you can send them back for a complete refund.
We guarantee all items to be described in complete accuracy and honesty. Please read the description carefully before bidding. We provide clear close up photographs specifically so that you can see clearly what the item is before you get it. We can provide you with a complete description and photographs, but it is up to the buyer to read that description and look at the photos carefully. We do not accept returns of eBay auctioned items for any reason other than that the item your received was not as described. Being human, I can on (rare) occasions make a mistake. (that was sarcasm, it happens a bit more often than "rare" implies.) For those rare occasions, I apologize in advance, and will do whatever it takes within reason to make things right with you, including but not limited to taking the item back and refunding you. We want you to be happy, but "I thought it was something else", or "I changed my mind" just does not cut it as a reason to return an item. This is a little family owned business; not K-Mart. Come to think of it, didn't K-Mart go bankrupt?
Note: Breakage in shipment is the responsibility of the shipper. All shipments are shipped insured. If an item is broken in shipping please contact us within 1 day, and we will start the insurance claims process for an insurance settlement. Do not return the broken item to us. Damage is highly unlikely to occur in shipping, because we pad and pack all items extremely well. But if something does break, it is insured.
