Small DEEP purple 1903 ECONOMY Fruit Jar PORTLAND OR

A small 4" tall round PINT SIZED beautiful DEEP PURPLE colored antique WESTERN FRUIT JAR.

• Jar embossed: "Economy".

• Base embossed: "KERR GLASS MFG. CO. / PAT. / PORTLAND ORE."

• Condition:  Nice PRISTINE SPARKLING CLEAN condition, has some very tiny rough areas around lip/band from the clamp.  NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. 

• Age:  An ABM smooth lip jar, ca. early 1900's.

A great early jar, thought it is NOT dated, about half of these you see have the 1903 date embossed on the base.  This jar has been exposed to a high heat/light source to enrich the purple color that would naturally occur if exposed to sun light for a prolonged period of time. With few exceptions, only clear bottles from before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make it a great looking bottle, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique!   Lid is stamped "Kerr" and goes onto jar, but seems a little bit large.  A pristine example that is exceptional when displayed in a window, check it out!
