A small prayer wheel, measuring about 7 1/2 inches long, this handmade Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheel has four rows of brass Tibetan Sanskrit circling the wheel. It spells out "Om Mani Padme Hung", the Tibetan Buddhist meditation prayer. The top, which pops off to reveal a handmade paper scroll of prayers, is also copper metal with a circle of filigree, Sanskrit and alternating glass beads of turquoise and coral. The handle is a smooth rattan, capped with copper and brass. The wheel is spun by the weight of a brass weight that pulls the wheel in a clock-wise rotation. The belief is that as the wheel spins, the prayers float outwards and upwards. This type of prayer wheel is still in use in Nepal today. Please write with questions and bid with confidence; our folk art is always guaranteed.
