With this device one can download compact flash cards for safe storage while away from your computer. Take it on vacation and look at your images while saving your camera's battery life. It has a fast USB2 connection for uploading your images to your computer when you get home. You can also use it to store and transport any other kind of digital media like music or video. It will also playback some music and video files. Everything in the photo is included. Which, I believe is everything that was originally included in the box.
