This specimen is a very clear, slightly Smoky Quartz with red clay inclusions on the entire back surface. Viewed from the front, the red clay forms a rocky wall or cliff that looks exactly like the sort of rugged terrain that extreme sports enthusiasts love to either climb up or rappel down! Indeed, the southwestern desert country in the US contains many rocky formations that could have been the model for this piece of nature's art. Also, several healed internal fractures display unusually bright rainbow effects that show up as parallel ripples of color (best viewed in indirect light). This striking specimen is quite a find, and would make a good addition to any mineral collection, as well as an interesting and attractive decorative piece. (MCS-0101-0065)
