 Scary Scarab! 

art deco styled terracotta scarab form vase from the Soholm art pottery of Denmark

 designed by Ancher Wolffsen and Carl Moller and certainly inspired by the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb and treasure

molded form with mostly unglazed exterior - interior is glazed 

four beetles in all

wonderful form and definition - I am really partial to this style of Soholm

 vase measures apx. 5 1/4" (13.5 cm) tall and 3 1/2" (9 cm) in diameter

check out the vintage catalog photo from 1928 - the scarab vase is third from the left - catalog picture is the version with a laquered finish

one bit of damage on base plus super tight firing crack that shows on the inside near the rim - otherwise, no bumps, blems, or boo-boos
