John H. Parker enlisted on 9/23/1861 as a private, fought at Cold Harbor, re-enlisted on 1/1/1864, promoted to Hospital Steward on 10/1/1864 and mustered out on 6/26/1865. He was with the 27th Massachusetts Infantry. A photo wallet identifies him as John H. Parker 3 (3rd brigade?) 45 Mt. Vernon Street Boston 1863. The contents include seven Mass. marked cartes de visites and Civil War news articles. There is an Olry & Co. marked flask, pearl handled knife & scalpels marked A.J.
