Depicting a tired and woeful native American on his horse with his head hanging down, his spear is pointed toward the ground, and even the horse's head is hanging low!  Look carefully and you may see a tear or two.
Cast in solid brass, this buckle is a 2-D replica of the famous sculpture by James Earl Fraser that was displayed at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915 for which Fraser gained national recognition. The original was made of plaster, which didn't hold up very well and was acquired by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and was replicated in Bronze and is still on display in Norman Oklahoma.
