I am selling an old friend with a lot of memories. This is a Sony BVU-150 3/4" U-Matic Portable Video Recorder that I shot a lot of video with. I believe this unit has some playback issues, but I can't tell you what the exact problem(s) would be. It's been at least 15 years since I've used this thing. Looking at someone else's webpage about this unit, I'm borrowing their description. Hopefully they won't mind... or notice.... The BVU-150 portable player/recorder provides
not only improved video and audio performance but unsurpassed
portability. Its size is reduced to 263 x 139 x 355mm (10.4 x 5.5 x
13.9 " w/h/d) and it weighs only
High picture quality The BVU-150 combines new Superior Performance (SP) mode circuits with conventional circuits employing higher luminance carrier frequencies. There is a significant improvement in picture quality, particularly in terms of luminance resolution, luminance ringing, chrominance blurring, and chrominance ringing. New improved circuit All of the state-of-the-art circuits are incorporated into SP U-matic VTRs which greatly contributes to picture improvement, even in conventional U-matic record in g/playback modes. New Y/C separator A new Y/C separator with a 3 line comb filter is employed to provide improved ringing and resolution in luminance. New noise canceler system A new noise canceler circuit improves the K-factor specification. Audio System The type C Dolby Noise Reduction System is employed in the BVU-150, the first time it has been incorporated in any U-matic VTR, and has brought with it an improvement in the S/N ratio. Improved audio frequency response By adopting a new sendust head and a new record/playback Level control A separate adjustment is provided for recording and playback levels for each channel. Switchable limiter circuits are also incorporated. Built-in mixed
audio output is provided. The ch-1 audio input has a LINE/MIC selector
switch, and the ch-2 audio input has a LINE/CAMERA/MIC selector switch I put a "STRIKE-THROUGH" symbol on the weight description, as I didn't agree with it. I just weighed this thing on a bathroom scale, and it weighed approximately 13 pounds without a BP-90 battery or a blank tape. Maybe my scale is off, or maybe the description is wrong, but we'll just say it's 13 pounds and leave it at that. For shipping, I'll just assume I'll need a 1 pound box, making it 14 pounds total. This unit includes the original pseudo-leather case with the clear vinyl cover that has since deterioriated to opaque yellowed brittle plastic. I didn't have the heart to throw it out. There's no other acessories - no power supply adaptor or B-90 battery. I couldn't turn this thing on if I wanted, as I have no power to do so... Here's some other pictures of this unit: ![]() ![]() If you live in the San Francisco bay area, you can save on shipping by visiting in person. I'd also consider delivering within a 50 mile radius... |
