The Charles Pankow Collection, one of the largest private collections of fine Egyptian antiquities to appear on the market in recent memory. Comprising approximately 160 works of ancient Egyptian art, the collection is strong in virtually every category including stone sculpture, bronzes, faience, and the funerary arts and spans the history of ancient Egyptian art from its beginnings before the 1st Dynasty, circa 3000 B.C., to the period of Roman rule circa A.D. 200. The collection, which was assembled in the 1970s and early 1980s, is estimated to bring $2.5/3.5 million.
Among the many highlights are an impressive limestone statue of a man and wife dating to the 6th Dynasty, circa 2300 B.C.(est. $300/500,000), a beautiful polychrome wood mummy mask of the 19th Dynasty, circa 1250 B.C. (est. $40/60,000), an imposing life-size granite bust of the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet, 18th Dynasty, circa 1350 B.C. (est. $200/300,000), an alabaster jar inscribed for King Merneptah (1213-1204 B.C.) discovered in the king's tomb by Howard Carter shortly before he found the tomb of Tutankhamun (est. $12/18,000), an unusually large turquoise faience hippopotamus (est. $40/60,000) and an impressive bronze figure of the god Osiris, formerly in the renowned Hilton Price Collection, which was sold by Sotheby's London in 1911 (est. $30/50,000). For shipping within the USA we will use USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelope at $6.00 USD for one catalog - we find this to be the most reliable with quick delivery times. With two or more catalogs being shipped we'll try to fit what we can into one USPS Priority flat rate envelope (which is very cost effective) - BUT you can check with us first to make sure if we can.
On multiple or larger quantity purchases (i.e., two or more catalogs) we default to USPS Priority Mail flat rate box at $12.00 (FYI up to 2 to10 catalogs in each box depending on the size of the catalogs - which saves you $$ on combined sales) or combined media mail for larger quantities.
If the catalog is oversized (FYI the oversized catalogs will not fit into a P.M. envelope) or upon request USPS Media mail shipping will start at $4.00 for a normal size catalog.
International
For the majority of our international customers one normal size catalog via USPS Priority flat rate will be $13.00 USD. Shipping to Canada & Mexico is $11.00 via USPS Priority flat- rate envelope service. Please note: we can sometimes fit 2 catalogs into one USPS Priority flat-rate envelope within the 4 U.S. pound weight limit - BUT check with us first to make sure if we can .
A great feature that is now available is USPS Priority Mail flat-rate box which means we can put up to 7-10 catalogs (depending on the size of the catalogs) via airmail into one box for $44.00 and $28.00 to Canada & Mexico - giving you great savings & quick service on multiple catalog orders!!!
FYI If the catalog is too large and/or heavy for USPS Priority flat rate envelope we'll default to USPS Priority flat rate box or USPS 1st class mail whichever is cheaper .
