A Very Beautiful & Very decorative Rug, woven With Sumak Techinque ( Flatweaves) In India With Heriz Design
Wool on cotton, handmade. A very beautiful Kilim (flatweave) from India, in Sumak technique with Heriz design. For the last 20 years Heriz carpets have been very popular in western markets, especially in the American market, and there were not enough of the old and antique Heriz carpets around. The dealers decided to reproduce them in India & China and other weaving centres of the East. One of the reproduction`s skills is the Soumak technique, which at the moment is among the best sellers. This rug is very decorative and is a perfect companion for rooms with either modern of traditional furnishing and decor.
ESTIMATE: US$400 to US$450. AGE: Modern. COLOURS: Rust Pink, off white, pale blue, , antique gold & some black. CONDITION: Perfect. The rug has abrash. ABRASH:Change or variation in the colour of a rug due to differences in the wool or dye bath. The effect of abrash is subtle shading differences. In older or antique rugs, abrash occurs naturally. In new rugs, both machine made and handmade, Abrash is carefully created by changing the colour of the yarns to mimic a vintage look.
