South-East Asian Khmer Curved Sword 1100 AD!

You are bidding on a very attractive South East Asian Khmer large aerodynamic single edged curved slashing Sword, dating to 802-1431 AD

This beautiful ancient weapon, has a long curved iron blade which has been professionally conserved, with a lovely rusty colour. It has a bronze hilt sleeve and a cylindrical bronze handle.

The Khmer civilization gave rise to a highly successful empire dating from 802 AD and extending to 1431 AD. The Khmer was a period that saw the development of intelligent irrigation systems to control the waters of the great Mekong river.

At times there were also mega wars fought. For example, the Khmer Empire had many military campaigns eg under Suryavarman II, king of the Khmer between 1113 and 1150 AD. During his time he successfully battled numerous rivals and on one occasion he was noted to have killed an enemy king after climbing on the head of his enemy's elephant!

Radiocarbon (C14) is the only other acknowledged scientific test which can date organic material such as wood, leather and paper. However it must be remembered that both these tests are expensive and therefore cost prohibitive for the smaller, less expensive items(cost of TL about $350).
