I am listing today in separate listings individual photographs relating to the "Sparks Circus". The dates given on the net from "The Circus in America 1793-1940", give the dates of the Sparks Circus as 1894-1931. Although I have seen some indication that this Circus did go into the 1940s from other resources. These photos are all from the late 1920s-1930 era. They are vintage snapshots measuring approx. 6"x 3.5". The photo attribution is, "Eddie Jackson, Circus Photos, Box 477, Macon, Ga", as seen by the back stamp on all these snapshots. They all have normal expected wear, some curling from age, (which is why I immediately put them all in rigid plastic folders), and maybe some very minor staining. I consider them all in overall very good condition for their age and nice, clean clear images. The scans are very accurate, so the viewer can check the scans to see what they think of these items for themselves. These photos are all pretty well identified as to time place, etc. so these are great historical items for the various regions shown, as well as circus history. The original owner of these photos came from a circus family, and wrote the various Circus Group in Clear letters on the top. In this case "Sparks" is on the top of all of these photos. I though this photo would be a great one to start the listings. It is the the circus proudly coming into town, "Crossing Viaduct, Akron, Ohio". Patriotic Flags, horses and the colorful circus wagons tell the people that the Circus is in town! There is some minor tonality issues with this photo and that is a minor flaw in the making of this photo, and not damage per se. the original owner dates this "maybe 1928", so I will say c1928 and that is consistent with the time period of the other photos. Again a great piece of Akron, Ohio as well as Circus History, I am pleased to offer this glimpse into a bygone era for consideration. This photo would be rare, especially at this point in time. Chances are that if you would like a vintage example of this photo, especially anytime soon, you will likely need to get it here. Check out my other items! I tend to like the old, unusual, scarce and possibly unique items. If this is your interest also, then check out my other listings.
