Spectra-Physics (originally Quanta-Ray) HG-2 Harmonic Generator with crystals for 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonic generation. This unit is in good, working condition and has been used by me without trouble nearly every day for the past 15 years. (I replaced it last week with a new HG unit that is better matched in size to my current laser.)
The Spectra-Physics tech inspected this HG-2 unit last week: the 2nd HG crystal - which is the only one I've really used regularly - is slightly burned, as are the entrance and exit windows; the 3rd and 4th HG crystals *might* be burned as well, or they might just have some debris on their surfaces coming from use of the 2nd HG crystal - can't tell without taking it apart. In any case, the tech says that these crystals have no internal damage and all can be easily re-polished (for a few hundred dollars each), and the (inexpensive) windows replaced to bring the unit back to good-as-new condition. So the money you'd spend to buy this unit and refurbish it completely (perhaps $1,000 or less to refurbish) is *far* less than the cost of a new HG with the same types of crystals: a new HG from Spectra-Physics with the same types of crystals costs more than $12,000, according to the Spectra-Physics tech. In fact, he says each crystal alone goes for about $2,200 new.
