Spinning /Jigging Rod 5ft 9in 65-200lb Fuji SiC Guides

This is a  6 foot 1 inch 65-200 lb, Spinning style Jigging rod. This outstanding rod design was developed with the assistance of Jim Weber of Boneyard Baits in Homer Alaska.

This rod was built with the Hopper 65-200 lb blank. The blank is strong, light with a nice parabolic action. It is rated for 350 gram jigs. I just got thur testing one of these rods a tuna trip. It has excellent action for jigging, the weight is very good along with good balance. I found this to be about the best of the spin / jigging rods i'd had the chance to use. I was very happy with the test results on this rod.

This blank comes with a spectacular pewter finish.  

From the gimbal up .. 

We have a new gimbal, It is a hard rubber mushroom style butt cap .. with a slot cut into it so it will work on your fighting belt ..  a lot easier on the stomach if your not using the belt .. best of both worlds .....

This rod was built with a sharkskin rear grip that has a triangular wrap under the sharkskin .. extremely easy to hold onto when your leaning over the side of the boat trying to get the fish out from under it ... Sharkskin is a  tough material that wont get slick when wet, has a smaller diameter then foam and a better hand to blank feel, From the back of the reel seat to the end of the gimbal the butt is about 13.5 inches long ... this is a good length to keep under your arm for a long night of tuna jigging ... on this blank the Sharkskin makes for a very small diameter butt. 

 From the rear grip we go to the Alps Centra Lock Aluminum reel seat. I went with the aluminum reel seat on this rod, you may order this same rod with an Fuji heavy duty graphite reel seat if you prefer. The price would be the same.

I used an Aftco tuna block in front of the reels seat and before the fore grip. We offer a set of rod rings on this rod for $20.  with the rod rings it will be more fighting belt and harness friendly.   

The fore grip is a 10 inch triangular EVA foam grip we have had manufactured exclusively for BaR-BaR Tackle, to our specifications, it is custom shaped to fit the front of the reel seat and transition to the blank. We find the triangular fore grip to be the perfect option to achieve outstanding stability with your rod. With the triangular fore grip, you will find you will no longer have the issue of your rod twisting and turning in your hands as you fight your fish. And it is much easier on your hands in a prolong fight.  

The guides are Fuji Silicon Carbide surf guides. I started this rod with a 25 mm guide. I like the idea of having the high profile guides when using the bigger spooled reels, like the Stella. It cuts the angle of the line to the first guide considerably. I believe this allows for a mush better line attitude. 

These  guide rings are one of the most advanced ceramics available today.The best guide made anywhere for braided line.  You will find these guides to be a little heavier guides then you find on off the off the shelf jigging rods .. they are stronger and a little more expensive then the lighter weight SiC guides from Fuji .. We feel the stronger guide is well worth the small difference in the cost .  The weight is negligible, we prefer to over build our rods a little as compared to the alternative.

These guides are perfect for this rod and the extreme fishing we have crafted it to be used for.
