India Sri Lanka papier-Mâché Tea Advertising bobble figure

This amazing four part dancing figurine is made from papier-mâché and is entirely hand painted. I was informed it is an old store counter top advertising figure for a Ceylon Tea merchant- and it was sold alongside a group of vulcanised rubber figurines also adverting teas from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) The other items were sold elsewhere whilst I did get this great dancing man! He rests one piece balanced upon a wire atop the next- and I admit its tricky getting all the parts to balance properly- hover once you do he dances in a beautiful fluid motion and the effect is quite beautiful and mesmerising! You can adjust the internal wire positions to get it to balance correctly.

As you see this is a very old piece- and as such has a lot of marks and scuffs- however it is essentially complete and intact and in sound shape, no tears or breaks. The surface wear really adds to its appeal and contributes to its exotic mystery! Imagine how this would have charmed – upon the grocers counter!

When assembled he stands around 40cm tall! That's approx 14 inches. This is a fantastic addition to vintage Tea related collection and would look great in a old advertising store display as well – In fact this great and unusual item would be a terrifically quirky addition to any interior.
