CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF U.S. POSTAGE STAMPS

~ Mint Souvenir Sheet from 1947 ~

Reproductions of America's first postage stamps are featured on this postal souvenir sheet issued on May 19, 1947.  The singles are actually valid as postage.  The blue and brown orange sheet was minted for the Centenary International Philatelic Exhibition, celebrating 100 years of U.S. postage stamps.  The flat plate printing shows Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. 

A companion deep blue block of four rotary press stamps was issued on May 17, 1947 and is for sale at Bright Mountain auctions/store. 

This souvenir sheet is in superb condition, as fresh as the day it was sold, suitable for framing and would make a fine gift to anyone interested in stamp collecting.
