Guideline used to grade books:

• New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unread copy in perfect condition.
• Excellent - XLNT:  A copy that may have been read, but remains in great condition. Pages are clean, intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine may have creases. Minor shelf wear. There are no dog ears or tears. 
• Very Good - VG: A copy that has been read, but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (including dust cover, if applicable). Pages may have slight yellowing. The spine, edges and cover may show signs of wear with possible creases. Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include "From the library of" labels.  May have some dog earred pages.
• Good - GD: A readable copy. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact. Cover may have creases or may be torn. (The dust cover may be torn or missing). Pages may be yellowing or darkening. Writing and notes may be present. Library labels and/or name stamps from previous owners may be present. A fair amount of reading and shelf wear. May have dog earred pages and/or torn pages. 
• Acceptable - ACC: A readable copy. Cover may be torn or missing. Pages may have all or some of the following: dog-ears, curling, creases, tears, yellowing, writing, highlighting, underlining, stickers, and/or labels.
