A Large Burmese Alabaster Ava Buddha Ava was the capital of Burma from 1364 to 1841. It is a city located in today’s Mandalay Region on the banks of the Aveyarwaddy River. The Buddha is sitting upright with his legs crossed. His left hand is laid palm up in his lap, his right hand stretched forward over his right knee so that the tips of his fingers touch the ground. This is known as the “earth touching ” or Virasana and Bhumisparsa mudra and refers to the moment of the Buddha’s Enlightenment. PLEASE SEE SIMILAR ITEMS IN OUR eBay STORE |
