Here is an opportunity to purchase an original signed infrared photograph by Stephen Paternite from 1980. The vintage photograph is "Lagoon, Stan Hywet, Akron, Ohio, 1980". The photograph was taken with a vintage 4x5 Deardorff View Camera and Kodak High-Speed Infrared Film. The photograph was hand-printed on Ilford Ilfrobrom Galerie (double-weight) fiber paper, archivally processed and selenium toned. The photograph measures 11"x 14" with an actual image area of 8" x 10". The photograph is corner mounted (removable is so desired) to a sheet of 4-Ply, 100% Rag Board, which measures 16" x 20". There is a 4-ply 16" x 20" hinged over-mat. The photograph is signed in pencil on the back bottom edge of the print and on the mount under the photograph. The photographer's 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" label is affixed to the back of the mount. The photograph is enclosed in a Light Impressions heavyweight polyethylene storage bag......The photograph is 29 years old and in excellent condition (unfortunately, the ebay pic does not convey the rich-tonality and razor-sharp detail evident in the original photograph)............ Note: This exhibition-sized photograph would normally sell for $350.00 in a gallery environment.......... About the photographer.......... Stephen Paternite (American, b:1952) received his initial art training from Cooper School of Art, Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1970s.......... In 1974, was the recipient of an "Artists Fellowship Award" from the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, D.C.......... In 1980, published "The Infrared Portfolio" a limited-edition portfolio of black-and-white infrared photographs, with an introduction by Robert M. Doty.......... In 1981, published "Below The Visible Spectrum" his second portfolio of black-and-white infrared photographs, with introductions by Nicholas Hlobeczy and Joe LaRose.......... In 1982, co-edited and published the "American Infrared Survey" a Celebration of Infrared Photography. This book (the first of its kind) explored artistic trends in black-and-white & color infrared photography, and also resulted in a traveling exhibition of original photographs from the book.......... In 1988, was the recipient of an "Individual Artists Fellowship" from the Ohio Arts Council, Columbus, Ohio.......... In 1994, co-produced a VHS video entitled "Creature-nites of Ohio" This bizarrely humorous docu-drama highlighted the life and times of 10 species of hybrid animals created by Paternite during his Ohio Arts Council Fellowship.......... In 2003, self-produced a DVD entitled "Too Gross for Discovery" This DVD is the original (rough-cut) episode of "Dirty Jobs" hosted by Mike Rowe. The unaired episode from 2003, which featured the roadkill artwork of Paternite, was ultimately rejected by the Discovery Channel for being "Too gross" for broadcast.......... Since he began his art career in 1970, has exhibited his artwork in over 135 group exhibitions, and has mounted 16 solo exhibitions throughout the United States and South America......
